When will it end? (So Cute contest continues)

Filed under: family, general — themommyincharge @ 10:24 am

What you ask. This flippin’ cold! My whole family is down and out with a cold that can hang on better than - I don’t know what. I would like to have something clever to say, but I don’t. I have been hacking away along my daughter (and now my husband too) for TWO WEEKS.

I’m trying to think of a surefire way to get rid of this cough. I can’t stand all the coughing all-night-long.

I was given one idea yesterday.

Vicks Vapo Eat?

Not to Vapo rub - to Vapo eat. Someone actually told me that eating raw vicks will cure you? Was that cure you or kill you?

I read the ingredients.

Ingredients
Active Ingredients (Purpose)
Camphor 4.8% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)
Eucalyptus oil 1.2% (Cough suppressant)
Menthol 2.6% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)

And was almost convinced until I got to the Inactive Ingredients.

Inactive Ingredients
Cedarleaf oil, nutmeg oil, special petrolatum, thymol, turpentine oil

Special petrolatum and turpentine oil does not sound healthy to me. Fair enough since they clearly say not to ingest it.

Maybe I’ll just wait it out. Any other ideas - or should I eat the Vicks?

Reminder: The so cute it’s scary contest ends tomorrow! Leave a comment on this post or the Halloween post and you are entered!

Ummm…Well, since I like your blog, I’m gonna have to go with NO!! Actually, I would be kinda wary of anyone encouraging ‘yes’ on this one, lol!!

Try rubbing it on the bottom of your feet at bed time and then wearing socks. Seams to work for us…

Please be careful of Vick’s Vapour rub and children. I have seen a few cases in the Emergency department where children have ingested the Vicks. The Camphor is quite toxic to small children.
