What do you want for Mother’s Day? Has anyone asked you this yet? How about what do you want to do for Mother’s Day? It’s your special day.

For all the fussing about Mother’s Day I have to say I truly need nothing more. There isn’t anything that could be purchased in a store that would ever measure up to the pure joy I receive all the time from being a mother. No other prize is required.

Recently I took my little 3 year old to her first ballet class, and while the moms had to wait outside I was so-excited-for-her. To see her go in, immediately make a friend and begin dancing to Disney princess music, dressed in a tutu brought me joy that was undescribeable. I was beaming, with a lump in throat and speaking about 3 octaves too high. That feeling that if you don’t share this moment with someone you might explode. That’s a Mother’s Day Gift.

So many of these gifts over the last few years. The first few steps, first words, counting to ten, now riding a bike and going to un-parented programs like ballet! The accomplishments and milestones are where its at for me. All these times when I am have been so excited, asking her over and over “are you proud?” “look what you did!” “that’s amazing” “you’re amazing”.

So many fantastic moments, all worth millions more than flowers, cards and gifts. Don’t get me wrong, those are good too

Here’s my latest Mother’s Day Gift. The free dance at the end of ballet. Mine was the dancer in the black leotard and pink tutu, hamming it up for the moms in the audience. I was the mom taking video and feeling like I might explode with Joy.

Happy Mother’s Day.

What you need:

Balloons

Yarn

Flour and Water

What you do:

Make a paste of flour and water.

Blow up your balloon to an egg shape.

Cut various lengths of yarn.

Cover the ballon in yarn that has been soaked in the “paste”.

Allow to dry and gently push the balloon away form the dried yarn.

Pop the balloon and remove.

Super simple. A little messy, which is always the best part for my preschooler, and you have a great looking Easter Egg to hang in your window or from a tree.

My three year old believes that these eggs will alert the Easter Bunny to stop at our house when he is hopping down the street!

Enjoy!
